THIS IS THE GREAT RIVER OF CANADA. IT WAS SO NAMED BY JACQUES CARTIER, THE GREAT FRENCH EXPLORER, WHO IN 1535 TOOK POSSESSION OF PARTS OF THE LAND WHICH WE CALL CANADA IN THE NAME OF THE FRENCH KING.
